The hard magnetic properties of melt-spun Sm2Fe15Si2C were studied. A
coercivity of mu(oi)H(c), = 0.84 T and an energy product of 60 kJ m(-3
) at room temperature were obtained for a sample prepared at a wheel s
peed of 20 m s(-1); correspondingly, the size of crystalline grains in
these samples is about 38 nm. The mechanism of coercivity is mainly c
ontrolled by the nucleation of reversed domains. The phenomenon of rem
anence enhancement was observed in the melt-spun Sm2Fe15Si2C.
