Abstract
Chemoselective oxidation of the phenylthio-substituted Fischer carbene complex (7) generates the corresponding sulfinyl complex (8) in high yield, which upon mild thermolysis affords the chelated tetracarbonyl complex (10). The structure of both (8) and (10) have been unambiguous ly assigned by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. (C) 1997 Else vier Science Ltd.
