Abstract
A non-Newtonian flow model for individual elements of a modular tangen tial counter-rotating twin screw extruder is developed. A non-Newtonia n non-isothermal flow model for a composite modular machine is then de scribed. Fill factor, pressure and temperature profiles along the axis of the twin screw machines were predicted for various modular screw c onfigurations. Finally, experiments were carried out on the modular ma chine to verify the predictions. Generally, good agreement with the fl ow analysis was found.
