P. Subramaniam et al., DEVELOPMENT OF REFERENCE-STANDARDS FOR TI-6242 GRADE ALLOY, Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 50(4), 1997, pp. 259-265
Suitable standards for analysing Ti-6242 grade Titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-
2Sn-4Zr-2Mo) have been developed and certified. The standards in disc
and millings form are meant for calibration of analytical instruments
facilitating rapid analysis of constituent elements. While disc standa
rds are suitable for calibration by spectrographic and XRF Techniques,
millings are suitable for use as point check standards for analysis b
y chemical and instrumental methods. The large scale development resul
ted in 15 sets of disc standards, each set having six discs of 40 mm d
ia and 15 mm height (with graded concentration of alloying elements) a
nd 50 packs of fine millings (50 g each pack). Certification was possi
ble based on repeat analysis carried out at this laboratory by chemica
l, instrumental, optical and XRF methods and representative analysis f
rom organisations of repute both from with in the country and abroad.
