Abstract
We report on experiments on low temperature (millikelvin range) activa ted magnetotransport on low-density two-dimensional electron systems i n InGaAs/InP for Landau level filling factors 0.25 less than or equal to nu less than or equal to 0.55. The activation energy increases appr oximately linearly with decreasing filling factor. The observations ar e discussed in the light of the formation of the Wigner solid. PACS nu mbers: 73.20.Dx.
