Jp. Berger et al., AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF THE NF RYDBERG STATES OF CARBON-DISULFIDE, The Journal of chemical physics, 107(21), 1997, pp. 8866-8873
The ((2) Pi(g3/2,1/2))nf Rydberg states of CS2 are investigated hy mea
ns of (3 + 1) resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) time-o
f-flight (TOF) spectroscopy. The excitation spectrum of jet-cooled car
bon disulfide has been obtained in the 74 000-81 000 cm(-1) energy reg
ion. From the CS2+ mass selected REMPI spectra, the nf Rydberg series
have been clearly identified and they have been found converging to th
e two spin-orbit components of the CS2+ (X (2) Pi(g)) ground state cor
responding to the n=4-11 members. Comparison of the CS2+, CS+, S+ mass
selected REMPI spectra gave a better insight of the competition betwe
en dissociation and ionization processes. The use of linearly nad circ
ularly polarized laser light, selection rules and quantum defect consi
derations have led to a preliminary analysis of the measured nf comple
xes. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
