Abstract
Perceived community rehabilitation needs of American Indian people res iding on a rural reservation in the Midwest were investigated, and dif ferences in perceived needs were examined on the basis of disability s tatus and cultural identification. The Concerns Report Method was used in identifying needs, a method that seeks to maximize community or co nsumer involvement in all aspects of the research, from instrument dev elopment to implementation of plans based on the findings. Participant s with disabilities, in comparison to those with no disabilities, indi cated greater satisfaction with community response to rehabilitation n eeds of people with disabilities, and participants with American India n cultural identification showed less satisfaction than those with eit her bicultural or anemic identification.
