We investigated the psychometric properties of two German versions of
two dissociation scales, the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES) and
the Questionnaire of Experiences of Dissociation (QED) in a student sa
mple (N = 309). Furthermore, the factor structure of both scales was e
xamined and relations to the trait version of STAI, the Tellegen Absor
ption Scale (TAS) and a scale of attitudes toward hypnosis (AHQ) were
analyzed. The psychometric properties of both scales were satisfactory
. Factor analyses of both scales suggested only one factor. The constr
uct validity of both dissociation scales was supported by high correla
tions with construct related personality measures.
