Y. Yamamoto et al., PRODUCTION OF DOUBLE-LAMBDA HYPEMUCLEI AT (K-,K+) REACTION POINTS ANDTHEIR PIONIC DECAYS, Nuclear physics. A, 625(1-2), 1997, pp. 107-142
Starting with the (K-, K+) reaction on nuclear targets of mass number
9-12 (Be-9, B-10, B-11, C-12), the probabilities of producing double-L
ambda and single-Lambda hyperfragments at the reaction points have bee
n evaluated on the basis of the statistical model. First, the Xi parti
cle produced abundantly in the quasi-free region is shown to be well a
bsorbed into the nucleus through the Xi slowdown by knocking out a nuc
leon, Then the formation of a double-Lambda compound nuclear system is
assumed together with its subsequent breaking-up into various hyperfr
agments. The theoretical pion spectra are presented for the weak decay
s of the double-Lambda and single-Lambda hypernuclei produced efficien
tly in this scenario, which can be utilized for the identification of
their hyperfragments production, It proposed that the observation of L
ambda Lambda(5)H with the Be-9 target is most feasible and promising.
