Yi. Kharkats, THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF THE ELECTROKINETIC METHOD OF REMOVING RADIONUCLIDES FROM THE SOIL, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 33(11), 1997, pp. 1185-1192
A theoretical model is developed for the electrokinetic method of remo
ving contaminants, in particular, immobilized radionuclides, from the
soil. The method involves applying a constant electrical held to the s
oil. The field ensures the electromigration supply of a complexing age
nt into the soil and removal of the pollutant-containing complexes. Po
ssible modes of the soil purification process are analyzed. The soil p
urification process is shown to depend essentially on the ratio betwee
n the rates of the complexing reaction and the transport processes.
