Ea. Zezina et al., MUTUAL INFLUENCE OF THE NA+ AND CS+ IONS DURING THEIR MASS ELECTROTRANSPORT THROUGH A PERFLUORINATED SULFOCATION MEMBRANE, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 33(11), 1997, pp. 1254-1258
0During sorption of the Na+ and Cs+ ions under equilibrium conditions
in perfluorinated cation-exchange membranes from a mixture of 0.1 M Na
Cl and 0.1 M CsCl solutions, it is the Cs+ ions that are predominantly
sorbed Effective self-diffusion coefficients for the Na+ and Cs+ ions
from individual solutions of 0.01-1.00 M concentrations and from the
above equimolar mixture are found. Selectivity of the electrodialytic
separation of the Cs+ ions from this mixture of electrolytes is define
d by moisture content in membranes. The moisture content is controlled
by the Na+ ion, which is more hydrated. The current mode ensuring an
effective separation of mixtures of ions (at which the selectivity coe
fficient is the largest) is found.
