Stability of mass electrotransfer in an electrodialysis system channel
is considered from the viewpoint of its applicability in systems desi
gned for purifying dilute working media or concentrating substances. T
he possibilities are discussed of a synergistic approach to studying t
he stability of multicomponent systems in which transfer is realized t
hrough hydrodynamic flows, diffusion, or migration. The mathematical m
odel of an electrochemical system includes equations of ion transport
with variable thermal properties, the Poisson equation that relates th
e potential and the electrical charge density, and the corresponding b
oundary conditions. The dissipation function, which reveals the mechan
isms responsible for maintaining the system stability is analyzed by t
he Prigogine-Glansdorff theory.
