Abstract
A new method for detecting ethylene at very low concentrations is desc ribed. Laser photoacoustic detection allows continuous sampling withou t removing organs from the plants. Measurements can be carried out avo iding ethylene accumulation in the sampling cell. Fast changes In ethy lene evolution of plant organs can be observed. As an example the meas urement of ethyl ene production of single Citrus madurensis flowers is discussed.
