Abstract
The basic intrusions in the lower Dja, Yokadouma and Nola Neoproterozo ic Series, around 1 Ga, display a continental tholeiitic composition. The magmas are generated from a spinel Iherzolite source sharing litho spheric and asthenospheric components, suggesting a lithospheric thinn ing. This magmatism has to be related to an extensional phase which fa vored the pre-Pan-African trough formation in the northern part of the Congo Craton.
