Jp. Vicat et al., THE FISSURAL NEOPROTEROZOIC VOLCANISM OF THE LOWER DJA, YOKADOUMA (CAMEROON) AND NOLA (RCA) SERIES GEOTECTONIC MEANING, Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie II. Sciences de la terre et des planetes, 325(9), 1997, pp. 671-677
The basic intrusions in the lower Dja, Yokadouma and Nola Neoproterozo
ic Series, around 1 Ga, display a continental tholeiitic composition.
The magmas are generated from a spinel Iherzolite source sharing litho
spheric and asthenospheric components, suggesting a lithospheric thinn
ing. This magmatism has to be related to an extensional phase which fa
vored the pre-Pan-African trough formation in the northern part of the
Congo Craton.
