RETROPERITONEAL HEMORRHAGE DETECTED BY RBC SCINTIGRAPHY

A 78-year-old woman with hypotension and syncope was referred for Tc-9 9m labeled RBC scintigraphy for possible gastrointestinal bleeding. Sc intigraphy showed slow, progressive accumulation at the periphery of t he large photopenic region in the left abdomen. There is no peristalsi s of activity. This case illustrates the findings of extraluminal intr a-abdominal bleeding by RBC scintigraphy.
