Rv. Roman et Rz. Tudose, STUDIES ON TRANSFER PROCESSES IN MIXING VESSELS - EFFECT OF PARTICLESON GAS-LIQUID MASS-TRANSFER USING MODIFIED RUSHTON TURBINE AGITATORS, Bioprocess engineering, 17(6), 1997, pp. 361-365
The effect of suspended inert solid particles on gas-liquid mass trans
fer has been investigated in the vessels equipped with standard and mo
dified Rushton turbine agitators positioned singly or doubly on same s
haft. The relations between the volumetric mass transfer coefficient i
n various suspensions, specific power consumption and superficial gas
velocity were obtained. Mixing with the modified Rushton turbines havi
ng the surface fraction of the perforations equal to 0.353, the oxygen
transfer efficiency is over 45% higher than that obtained using stand
ard Rushton turbines.
