We report the formation and characterization of C-60 films on glass (a
morphous) and mica(crystalline) substrates by a spray deposition techn
ique. The deposited films were characterized by X-ray diffractometry,
transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The
C-60 films on glass were found to be polycrystalline and those on mic
a were textured. The value of (d(010))(mica) = 9.23 Angstrom, being cl
ose (d(110))(C60) = 10.02 Angstrom, seems to be the main cause of text
uring in the films of C-60. Redeposited films on mica exhibited enhanc
ed 110, 220, etc. X-ray diffraction peaks, demonstrating clearly the t
extured nature of the film.
