Abstract
With increasing environmental awareness apparent in all facets of meta l finishing, the need to find low toxicity alternatives to hexavalent chromium-based passivation treatments is of prime importance. This pap er reviews some of the possible systems reported in the literature and discusses their efficiency as promoters of conversion coatings on zin c-based surfaces.
