Abstract
The spawning biomass of northern anchovy (Engraulis mordax) in the Gul f of California during 1991 was estimated to be 105,079 metric tons (C V = 0.44), as determined by the daily egg production method. The princ ipal spawning regions were around the large islands in the north and i n two smaller regions close to Guaymas in the south.
