CHROMONE AND ALOIN DERIVATIVES FROM ALOE-BROOMII, ALOE-AFRICANA AND ALOE-SPECIOSA

Four new 5-methylchromone derivatives, namely -beta-D-gluco-pyranosyl- 7-methoxy-5-methylchromone from A. africana, di-O,O-coumaroyl)-beta-D- glucopyranosyl-7-hydroxy- 5-methylchromone from A. speciosa, (E)-2-ace tonyl- 8 (2'-O-caffeoyl)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-7-methoxy-5- methylchro mone and (E)-2-acetonyl-8-(2'-O-caffeoyl)-beta-D- glucopyranosyl-7-met hoxy-5-methyl-chromone along with 6'-O-cinnamoyl-5-hydroxyaloin A and 5-hydroxyaloin A from A. broomii, were isolated. The structures of the new compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic methods i ncluding ES-MS. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science.
