We analyze the error floor due to channel-induced intersymbol interfer
ence for TDMA mobile radio systems that use the Gaussian minimum shift
keying (GMSK) modulation format; both fixed and adaptive sampling is
considered. The channel is assumed to have a two-spike impulse respons
e, where the spikes suffer from both small-scale (Rayleigh or Rice) an
d large-scale (lognormal) fading. We compute the average bit error pro
bability and the probability density function of the numbers of bit er
rors in one data burst when we have interleaving. The probability dens
ity function allows the prediction of transmission quality with channe
l coding.
