Abstract
The role of the lattice asymmetry parameter xi in describing the phase structure of SU(2) gluodynamics is studied analytically. It is shown that renormalization-group relations, which make it possible to elimin ate the dependence of thermodynamic quantities on the lattice asymmetr y parameter in the ''naive'' limit, give no way to do this in the SU(N ) similar or equal to Z(N) limit without disturbing results obtained i n the naive limit. To eliminate this dependence, it is necessary to im pose an additional condition fixing the parameter xi.
