Abstract
Thirty patients undergoing surgery for a preoperative diagnosis of thy roglossal duct cyst have been reviewed. All patients were seen in a ho spital service for patients of 16 years and over, Sistrunk's procedure is the operation of choice but when histological examination of a thy roglossal duct cyst reveals a papillary carcinoma, total thyroidectomy should be considered.
