Abstract
Twentyfour homologues of two new series, viz. p-n-amyl (p'-n-alkoxycin namoyloxy)benzoates and p'-n-hexyl (p'-n-alkoxycinnamoyloxy)benzoates have been studied for their mesomorphic behaviour. The mesomorphism Is exhibited over a wide range of temperatures, The homologues exhibit p redominantly smectic mesophase showing focal conic textures of smectic -h variety, Few binary mixtures comprising homologues of the first ser ies have also been studied.
