The present paper is concerned with non newtonian pseudoplastic fluid
flow across an abrupt enlargement. Basic equations are integrated by a
finite volume scheme. The obtained results clearly display the stabil
izing effect of fluid pseudoplasticity. The recirculation zone and re-
establishment length diminish when behaviour index decreases. It is no
ticed that there is an agreement between the numerical results and the
results of experimental study carried out in our laboratory. (C) 1997
