Abstract
Based on the Timoshenko beam and the Mindlin plate theories, a kinemat ic model of a rigid line segment is proposed to describe the finite de formation of the structures. Using this model and the finite rotation matrix, the Green-Lagrangian strains of these structures can be derive d from a unified point of view.
