Abstract
Based on the former adaptive mesh model for a tropical cyclone track p rediction, the following improvements were made: (i) an analytical sol ution was utilized to generate adaptive mesh, so that the consumed CPU lime was reduced by solving a quasi-linear elliptic equation compared with that needed by the former scheme; (ii) spherical barotropic prim itive equations were adopted to replace the local coordinate system; ( iii) the equations under adaptive mesh coordinate were rededuced, whic h are much simpler than the old ones; (iv) under the condition of cons erving the resolution near the typhoon center, the number of grid poin ts were reduced so that CPU time was saved greatly.
