F. Attallah et al., IONIC CHARGE DEPENDENCE OF THE INTERNAL-CONVERSION COEFFICIENT AND NUCLEAR LIFETIME OF THE FIRST EXCITED-STATE IN TE-125, Physical review. C. Nuclear physics, 55(4), 1997, pp. 1665-1675
We have studied the ionic charge state dependence of the nuclear lifet
ime of the 35.5-keV first excited state of Te-125. We found for the 47
(+) and 48(+) ions, 400 and 670 % variations with respect to the neutr
al-atom half-life (1.49 ns). These unusually large effects are due to
the energetic blocking of the K-shell internal conversion as the charg
e state increases past 47(+). For the 46(+), we suggest a new internal
conversion mode without any electron emission into the energy continu
um.
