Abstract
We present the discovery of a new high proper motion star, APMPM J1523 - 0245, This object has a proper motion of 0.6 arcsec yr(-1) and has an R magnitude of 18. Spectroscopy indicates that it is a cool metal-p oor star with spectral type sdM5.5. APMPM J1523 - 0245 is only the six th known subdwarf later than type sdM5.0.
