Soil samples taken in eastern Kenya contained Xiphinema brevicolle Lor
dello Br Da Costa, 1961; X. oxycaudatum Lamberti & Bleve-Zachec, 1979;
and X. simile Lamberti et al., 1983. These species are reported for t
he first time from Kenya, X. oxcaudatum is reported for the first time
outside the country from where it was originally described and X. sim
ile is reported for the first time outside Europe. The Kenyan specimen
s have been compared with topotypes (X. brevicolle) or original type m
aterial (X. oxycaudatum and X. simile).
