Abstract
Seismotectoniclly, Hong Kong is located in the Southeast China Outer S eismic Zone. It is regarded as an ar ea exposed to seismic risk of mil d-intermediate level. This paper provides a new result of seismic haza rd assessment for Hong Kong. The probabilistic seismic hazard analysis has been performed for Hong Kong based on the new, geological and sei smological dataset collected from China and international sources. The computation result obtained in this study indicates that the peak gro und acceleration in Hong Kong region is in the range of 86-105 gal, co rresponding to 10% probability of exceedance in 50 years. This result can be used as a basic reference for Hong Kong's natural disaster redu ction planning.
