Abstract
Let a monic polynomial P-n(x) (sic) x(n) - a(1)x(n-1) - ... a(n), a(j) is an element of C, j = 1, 2,..., n, be given. Bounds for the eigenva lues and the computation of the singular values of some special compan ion matrices give bounds for the zeros of the polynomial P-n which imp rove classical and recently found ones. Also some new bounds for the z eros are given. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Inc.
