Abstract
The structure and the stability of clusters on surfaces are simulated by using the constant-energy molecular-dynamics method. The necessary condition for a cluster to be supportable on a surface is studied. it is found that the lattice mismatch has a strong effect on the stabilit y of clusters on surfaces; the structures obtained are surface depende nt. The thermal stability of the supported clusters on surfaces is als o investigated.
