We report measurements of absolute cross sections for single- and mult
iple-electron capture in slow collisions (upsilon similar to-0.1-0.2 a
.u.). Partial cross sections for simultaneous r-electron removal from
the target and p-electron retainment by the projectile sigma(q,q-p)(r)
are presented for the systems Xeq+-B, B=He, Ar, and Xe (15 less than
or equal to q less than or equal to 43). The results are also describe
d in terms of electron-retainment (sigma(q,q-p)) electron-removal (sig
ma(q)(r)), and total-reaction (sigma(q)) cross sections. Further, we d
educe experimental single-electron-capture cross sections sigma(q-1,q-
2)(1) for Xe(q-1+)-B collisions from measurements on the Xeq+-B system
. The data are compared with earlier and more recent scaling laws and
the extended classical over-the-barrier model. [S1050-2947(97)08511-9]
