EVALUATION OF BIOGAS PRODUCTION FROM THE LANDFILL OF BRATOVO (BURGAS,BULGARIA)

This paper presents the theoretical and experimental work obtained in the project ''Evaluation of the biogas production from the landfill of Bratovo (Burgas, Bulgaria)''. This project has been funded by the Eur opean Union in the OUVERTURE program. The preliminary and field work w ere done by expert people belong to the Spanish company responsible fo r the project, COGERSA, during two visits to Burgas in July and Octobe r of 1995. The main objective of this work was the experimental determ ination of quantity and quality of biogas generated in the landfill of Bratovo. For this reason, a portable biogas extraction apparatus deve loped and implemented by COGERSA S.A. was used. The experimental resul ts obtained show that a real possibility exists to recover biogas. As a consequence of this work, the execution of the project ''Extraction network and the energetic uses of biogas in the landfill of Bratovo (B urgas, Bulgaria)'' between COGERSA and the manager of Bratovo landfill will be realised in the future.
