Eight hundred and forty E24 hybrid broilers were used to evaluate Sacc
hamaize prepared through the solid state fermentation of clean and gro
und sugar cane with maize meal, urea and minerals. The broilers were d
istributed according to completely randomized design in 4 treatments.
The product obtained was added at 0, 15, 20 and 30% as a cereal substi
tute (maize) at the starter and finishing fattening diets for broilers
. The productive performance data were controlled from 7 to 49 days of
age. Bird health was satisfactory. Final liveweight (49 days) was poo
rer with 30% in relation to 0, 15 and 20% (1415, 1409, 1399 and 1326 g
/bird). Conventional feed conversion did not differ between 15 and 20%
treatments, as well as 20 and 30%, and all were better than the contr
ol. It is considered that 20% of this product could be included in die
ts for broilers increasing sugar cane up to 13% and reducing the cost
of feed perton of liveweight gain (6%).
