Vn. Melekhin, NEW CONSIDERATIONS CONCERNING THE HIGH-FREQUENCY FOCUSING OF RELATIVISTIC-PARTICLES AND PANOFSKY-WENZEL THEOREM, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 400(1), 1997, pp. 170-172
It is shown that the transverse momentum imparted to a relativistic pa
rticle, passing through an accelerating cavity near and parallel to it
s axis (z-axis), may be presented as a trajectory integral with an int
egrand being proportional to z-component of high-frequency magnetic fi
eld. The x- and y-component of this momentum are equal in value but op
posite in sign. The obtained result is compared with Panofsky-Wenzel t
heorem. This result gives one more procedure to check the accuracy of
high-frequency focusing simulation.
