Abstract
Treatment of human methanol poisoning with the alcohol dehydrogenase i nhibitor, 4-methylpyrazole (fomepizole), has not been previously descr ibed. We report the clinical and toxicokinetic data of a patient with methanol poisoning who was treated with fomepizole. Formic acid levels remained undetectable during fomepizole treatment, the toxic effects of methanol were prevented, and the patient made a full recovery.
