We begin with a progress report on a simulation of two flavor QCD with
Kogut-Susskind quarks using the simplest gauge and quark actions. We
then discuss some empirical investigations of the hadron spectrum with
Kogut-Susskind quarks with improved gauge and quark actions. While th
ese tests are done in the quenched approximation, we expect that impro
vement of the quenched spectrum is a good indicator of what can be exp
ected in full QCD calculations.
