Abstract
Reaction of alpha-halosilanes with fluoride ions generates carbanions I, through the attack of fluoride ion on the Si atom, and these are re ported to transfer methylene to suitable double bonds(1-3). Thus Kessa r et al.(4) have shown that II reacts with aldehydes to give oxiranes and with alpha,beta-unsaturared ketones and esters to yield the corres ponding cyclopropanes (Scheme I).
