Jm. Ryan et al., REGIONAL INTRAVENOUS CALCIUM - AN EFFECTIVE METHOD OF CREATING HYDROFLUORIC-ACID BURNS TO LIMB PERIPHERIES, Journal of accident & emergency medicine, 14(6), 1997, pp. 401-402
An effective method of providing pain relief in hydrofluoric acid burn
s is reported, using a Bier's block type technique and regional intrav
enous calcium gluconate. This method allows satisfactory analgesia and
prevents further tissue destruction, without the risk and added disco
mfort of increased tissue tensions associated with local infiltration
of calcium.
