P. Stoneman et G. Battisti, INTRAFIRM DIFFUSION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES - THE NEGLECTED PART OF TECHNOLOGY-TRANSFER, International journal of industrial engineering, 4(4), 1997, pp. 270-282
In this paper we explore the factors that affect the level of use of n
ew technologies by firms post first adoption. Using newly collected da
ta we show that there is little support for the predictions of the sem
inal model in the literature. An alternative empirical model is propos
ed and estimated which predicts that the factors that drive the intra
firm diffusion process for a new technology are basically time since f
irst adoption, firm size and the other technologies in use. Our result
s also hint that as newer technologies are introduced older technologi
es will be used less extensively.
