Abstract
Long-term potentiation of supragranular field potentials was evoked fo llowing tetanic stimulation of the white matter in the auditory cortex of adult rats. LTP corresponded to potentiation in orthodromic firing of supragranular pyramidal neurons. The induction of LTP depended on the activation of NMDA receptors. LTP was larger in the auditory than the visual cortex.
