Abstract
We propose a pipelined asynchronous time-division multiplexing optical bus. Such a bus can use one of two hardwared priority schemes: the li near priority scheme and the round-robin priority scheme. Our simulati on results shaw that the performance of the proposed bus is significan tly better than the performances of known pipelined synchronous time-d ivision multiplexing optical buses. The possibilities of using our bus es to construct multichannel switches and multidimensional processor a rrays are also discussed. (C) 1997 society of Photo-Optical instrument ation Engineers.
