PROSPECT OF COST REDUCTION TECHNOLOGIES FOR OPTICAL AND ELECTRICAL DEVICES FOR OPTICAL ACCESS NETWORKS

The key issue to achieve optical subscriber systems is to reduce the c ost of components and devices. In particular, optical devices and LSIs used in the ONU of FTTH systems, which NTT has intensively studied, n eed to be reduced in cost. This paper describes the basic concept and technologies for achieving drastic cost reduction in these devices.
