Abstract
Sodium hydride of nanometric size exhibits high reactivity for the red uctive dehalogenation of aryl halides in the presence of a catalytic a mount of lanthanide chloride or a mixture of lanthanide chloride and t ransition metal chloride. The catalytic activities of with increasing atomic number of the rare earth elements. lanthanide chlorides decreas e with increasing atomic number of the rare earth elements. The combin ation of ytterbium chloride and a transition metal chloride shows rema rkable synergic effect in the reductive dehalogenation of aryl halides .
