M. Chavez et al., AN ATLAS OF HIGH-RESOLUTION SYNTHETIC SPECTRA IN THE WAVELENGTH REGION 4850-5400 ANGSTROM, Astronomy & Astrophysics. Supplement series, 126(2), 1997, pp. 267-272
We present an Atlas of high resolution (resolving power lambda/triangl
e lambda = 250 000) synthetic spectra based on the 1993 release of atm
osphere models and codes by Kurucz. The spectra are given in the wavel
ength interval 4850 - 5400 Angstrom for eleven values of effective tem
perature in the range 4000 - 8000 K, for nine surface gravities in the
interval 1.0 - 5.0 dex, and for seven metallicities spanning from -1.
0 to +0.5 dex. The Atlas is aimed mainly at the analysis of composite
stellar populations by means of suitable spectral features extracted f
rom the spectra and identifiable in the observed composite light of cl
usters and galaxies. The high resolution used in the computations make
s the Atlas also suitable for chemical abundance analyses.
