Abstract
The effect of penetration enhancer (PE) and iontophoresis on the in vi tro permeability of luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) throu gh pop cine epidermis was investigated. The permeability coefficient o f LHRH increased (p < 0.05) through PE (e.g., dimethylacetamide [DMAC] and 2-pyrrolidone [2-P])-treated epidermis. Iontophoresis further inc reased the permeability of LHRH (p < 0.05) through the PE-pretreated e pidermis in comparison to the control (without PE-treated epidermis). This shows that iontophoresis can synergize with PEs such as DMAC and 2-P to provide an additional driving force to maintain and control the target flux of LHRH.
