A circuit for exciting a combined discharge in a high-power CO2 laser
is described. A high-voltage generator with magnetic compression of a
high-voltage pulse and a simultaneous increase in its height is used i
n this circuit. This allows one to not use high-voltage switches (thyr
atrons or pseudospark gaps) with limited lifetimes in laser pumping sy
stems. Current and voltage oscillograms for self-sustained and semi-se
lf-sustained discharges are presented.
