Abstract
This paper examines the effects of some independent variables on the p erformance of an electronic manufacturing Surface Mount Technology (SM T) production line operating in a highly dynamic environment. Variable s considered are: scheduling rules and set-up policies. Experimental d esign, ANOVA and simulation techniques (Awesim, C) are used in order t o predict the performance of a SMT line on the work-in-process, the th roughput time and set-up time.
